Why we started HushFun
HushFun was started by a couple. After spending real time in the lifestyle, we found the resources around us disappointing and the whole experience left a lot to be desired. Something that should have felt fun too often turned into hard work. It felt seedy, and it was full of bad actors.
Fake profiles, abuse, dated advice and dodgy characters left us deflated. Again and again, we watched curious, honest people get put off before they ever had the chance to enjoy themselves. We were those people too, and we knew the lifestyle could feel a lot better than the platforms claiming to serve it.
What we're trying to do
So we started HushFun. The idea was simple. We'd take what we've learned in our working lives and put it to work for a community we care about, then build it something better than what already exists.
We wanted a place where discretion is the default, where real people are verified and treated with respect, and where exploring your interests never feels like a compromise. No seediness. No judgment. Somewhere that treats you like the adult you are.
The values we're building on
Our focus is on getting the experience right for the whole community. We aren't trying to be the biggest platform out there. We want to be the one people actually trust. A few values guide the features we ship, the policies we set and the members we welcome.
- Trust is earned, then protected. Real, verified people are the foundation everything else sits on. We put work into verification, moderation and privacy-first design, so when you connect with someone here you can believe they are who they say they are. You never have to hand over more of yourself than you choose to.
- Exploration should feel good. Working out what you're into ought to be fun. It should never feel daunting, seedy or shameful. We design for curiosity, so the next step feels like an invitation rather than a gamble.
- Non-judgment is the baseline. Whoever you are and whatever you're curious about, you're welcome here as you are. Respect and consent set the tone in our community, and we hold every member to that.
- Freedom needs safety. Real freedom comes from knowing you're safe. We give you room to express yourself, backed by the privacy and control to explore on your own terms.
- Discretion by default. Your business is yours. We build with privacy at the centre, so you stay in control of what you share, who you share it with and when.
The community we're building
HushFun is the community we always wanted to be part of. We're working towards a culture where members look out for one another, where newcomers feel welcome instead of suspected, and where being open about what you want is met with warmth, not exploitation.
That takes work most platforms skip. We keep out fake profiles and bad actors, we listen closely to our members, and we keep improving what a safe, respectful adult community should feel like. We'd rather grow a little slower and get this right than grow fast and lose the trust that makes it worth doing.
